Vol. 178 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Division of Wexford Estate.

50.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Brennan Estate, Springmount, Killaune, County Wexford, was acquired by his Department; if he will state the total amount received or likely to be received in respect of the setting of this estate from the date it was acquired to 31st December, 1959; and when it is proposed to divide this estate.

This property, comprising 169 acres, was transferred to the Land Commission on 31st March, 1955, in exchange for other lands. Nett income from lettings to 31st December next is placed at £1167. 15.3. As regards division of the lands, I would refer the Deputy to the reply to a Question by Deputy Seán Browne on 25th February last. Efforts are continuing with a view to effecting a solution of legal complications affecting nearby lands in which the Department is also interested; the removal of such difficulties in relation to those other lands would enable a better balanced and more comprehensive plan of settlement to be formulated for the district than by utilising the Brennan Estate only.
