Vol. 178 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Admission Charges to Shannon Airport.

17.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will state the position regarding admission charges to the public at Shannon Airport; and if it is intended to make any changes in such charges.

Charges for admission to Shannon Airport are on the basis of a charge of sixpence for each person other than the driver of a motor car and two shillings and sixpence for each motor car including the driver thereof.

I am at present considering replacing these admission charges by a charge for car parking only. I am not yet ready to say what change, if any, will be made.

Is the Minister aware that about five months ago the then Minister for Industry and Commerce gave me a somewhat similar reply, and assured me at that time that the matter was under consideration? I wonder have any further steps been taken?

One of the reasons for the delay is that we are waiting to complete the new parking space at Shannon Airport, and the two things are somewhat linked together.
