Vol. 178 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Welfare Payments: Loss Resulting from Trade Disputes.

2.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of the latest period for which figures are available the number of days in respect of which (a) unemployment benefit, (b) disablement benefit and (c) unemployment assistance were paid, and the number of man-days lost as a result of trade disputes.

The number of man-days lost as a result of trade disputes in the year 1958, which is the latest period for which figures are available, was 126,143. The information requested in relation to unemployment benefit and unemployment assistance is not available and it would not be practicable to obtain it. The Deputy's reference to disablement benefit is not understood.
