Vol. 178 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Borough Jury Service.

31.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the number of persons on the current jury book for the jury district of Cork Borough, and the number of persons from this jury book who have been summoned for jury service between the 1st December, 1958, and the 1st December, 1959; and when it is anticipated that the persons so summoned will again be summoned for jury service.

There are 879 persons on the current jurors book for the jury district of Cork County Borough, of whom 150 were summoned for service between the 1st December, 1958, and the 1st December, 1959. Earlier in the same period 250 jurors had been summoned for service from the preceding jurors book. The persons so summoned would, under the existing law and the circumstances in Cork County Borough, be liable to be called for service at intervals of 18 months to 2 years.
