Vol. 178 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Merchandise Licences.

46.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will state the number of merchandise licences which have been extended in Limerick City and County during the past two years, and the grounds on which such extensions have been granted.

Three merchandise licences located in Limerick city and county have been extended during the past 2 years; two in respect of area of operation and one in respect of classes of merchandise. The extensions were granted in accordance with the provisions of Section 116 of the Transport Act, 1944, on the basis of satisfactory documentary evidence of a contemporaneous nature showing that the area of operation or the classes of merchandise specified in the licences did not fairly represent the area in which the original licensee operated or the classes of merchandise carried by him in the period immediately prior to the coming into operation of the Road Transport Act, 1933.
