Vol. 179 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pool Operators Accounts.

28.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he has yet made regulations under which pools' operators must keep accounts and furnish returns and information relating there-to to the Gardaí.

The regulations mentioned in Section 50 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956, which is what the Deputy is referring to, fall to be made by the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána and not by me.

I am informed that the drafting of the regulations has proved to be more difficult than was expected and that conclusions have not yet been arrived at in this regard.

Could the Minister give us any idea when these regulations will be available? Will they be available to the House for examination?

I cannot say because it is a matter solely for the Commissioner. However, I am sure he has due regard to the circumstances that obtain at the moment.

Will they be made available to the Members of the House?

I presume they will but I cannot say for certain.
