asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (1) the allowances for Members of the Dáil for the years 1939 and 1959, respectively, (2) the percentage increase in allowances in the period, and (3) the percentage increase in the cost of living in the period, (4) the salaries of higher executive officers in the civil service in 1939 and 1959, respectively, (5) the year in which Members' allowances were last increased, (6) the number of increases given to civil servants in the period, and (7) if it is intended to give corresponding increases to Members, and, if so, when.
