Vol. 180 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Improvement of Wexford-Gorey Road.

14.

asked the Minister for Local Government if in view of the fact that the opening of a new bridge at Wexford town has resulted in a large increase in the volume of traffic, especially heavy lorry traffic, on the Wexford-Gorey road he will now consider making a grant for the improvement of this road which is at present in a poor condition

The Road Fund grants for the year 1960/61 have already been allocated to Wexford County Council. In addition, an application from the County Council for a substantial supplementary grant in respect of extras on the contract for Wexford Bridge is under consideration. The allocation of a further sum by way of a special grant on the lines indicated by the Deputy would not be practicable having regard to the level of commitments already incurred.
