Vol. 180 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hospitals Trust Sponsored Programme.

34.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if Radio Éireann has received notice from the Irish Hospitals Trust of their intention to discontinue their daily sponsored programmes; and if he will state the fees per day paid to Radio Éireann for such programmes.

The Hospitals' Trust has given notice to discontinue its sponsored programme as from the 1st April, 1960. As the rate of fee paid was negotiated directly with the Trust and was not a publicly announced one of general application, I do not propose to quote it.

Mr. Ryan

Would the Minister kindly explain to the House why he answered my second question about Radio Éireann and refused to answer the first?

I did not refuse to answer either of the questions asked by the Deputy. I have answered them both.

Mr. Ryan

Be honest.
