Vol. 181 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arterial Drainage Costs.

10.

asked the Minister for Finance what sum would be required (having regard to increased costs of labour and materials) to carry through in 1960-61 the same quantum of work on arterial drainage as was done in 1956-57.

Allowing for works financed from the National Development Fund as well as those provided for in Subhead J2 of Vote 9 and including the cost of stores etc. supplied from the Central Engineering Workshop, the expenditure on works under the Arterial Drainage Act 1945 in the year 1956/7 was £562,000 approx. which would be represented by £625,000 on present day costs.

The recorded expenditure from Subhead J2 of Vote 9 in 1956/7 was £441,923 which on present day costs would be equivalent to about £500,000.
