asked the Minister for Local Government in respect of each revision of Dáil constituencies since 1922 what was (1) the population (2) the number of electors and (3) the number of members for each constituency immediately prior to and immediately after each such revision.

Dáil constituencies were revised in 1923, 1935, 1947 and 1959. Information is not available in the Department as to the population of each constituency immediately prior to and immediately after each of these revisions. The appropriate volumes of the Reports of the censuses taken in 1926, 1936, 1946, 1951* and 1956 contain details of the population of the constituencies at the time of the censuses and of the number of members assigned to each constituency on that various revisions, except that of 1959. Figures for the number of members assigned to each constituency on that revision and prior to the revision of 1923, are contained in the Electoral (Amendment) Act, 1959, and the Government of Ireland Act, 1920. Table I following contains details of the population, according to the 1956 census, of the constituencies as revised in 1959.
Statistics are not available in the Department for the number of electors in each constituency immediately prior to the revision of 1923. Figures for each constituency after that revision are set out in Table II (1). The only figures available in the Department for the revision of 1935 are those compiled in connection with the general elections of January, 1933 and July, 1937, which are given in Table II (2).
Figures for the number of electors in each constituency before and after the revisions of 1947 and 1959 are contained in Tables II (3) and (4).
