Vol. 181 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Instructions to Gardaí.

17.

asked the Minister for Justice whether Garda stations have been sent a circular by way of a reminder of the official attitude in the conduct of cases in which there is an application for a grant of renewal of licences for public dancing; if such circular instructs Gardaí to refrain from any reference to the moral aspect of extended hours of dancing or to the Diocesan Regulations in regard to the hours for public dancing; and if he will state the reasons for these provisions.

18.

asked the Minister for Justice if there is in existence for the information of Gardaí a list of persons whom they should salute; whether members of the Hierarchy and clergy were included in the list; whether it has been recently reissued with the Hierarchy and clergy excluded from it; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

With your permission, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions 17 and 18 together.

As I have already made clear in reply to Questions in the House relating to instructions issued to the Force by the Commissioner, Garda Síochána, these instructions are confidential and are not for publication.
