asked the Minister for Lands what lands have been found suitable for afforestation in the parish of Clonmany, County Donegal.

The Forestry Division of my Department has received two offers of land comprising 344 acres in the townlands of Ardaturr and Cloughfin in the Clonmany district, Co. Donegal. The lands have been inspected and are considered suitable for planting. Some further investigations are necessary before a definite decision regarding the acquisition of the lands can be reached.

asked the Minister for Lands what the position is in regard to the purchase of land for afforestation in the Cardonagh area, County Donegal.

In the Cardonagh district, Co. Donegal, the Forestry Division of my Department has under consideration 19 offers of land totalling 1,578 acres. Agreement to purchase 398 acres has been reached with four of the owners and title is in course of clearance. Negotiations are being conducted with another owner to purchase an area of 41 acres. The remaining cases are at the preliminary stages of investigation.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will indicate in respect of the Fahan, Newtowncunningham and St. Johnston areas of County Donegal (a) the acreage of land offered for afforestation, (b) the acreage of land inspected and (c) the result of such inspection.

In the Fahan, Newtowncunningham and St. Johnston areas, Co. Donegal, the Forestry Division of my Department is dealing with 14 offers of land totalling 705 acres. Possession is about to be taken of one area of 66 acres in the townland of Dooish. Negotiations to purchase are being conducted in respect of two other areas totalling 86 acres. The remaining cases are at the preliminary stages of investigation.
