asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applications for telephones in (a) Galway city and (b) Galway county; and when he hopes to have the applications in these areas dealt with.

There are 73 applicants waiting for telephones in Galway city all of whom will be given service in three/four months' time. Excluding 50 telephones in course of installation, there are 45 applicants waiting for telephone service in Galway county and it is expected that they will get service by the end of the year.
