Vol. 182 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Inishowen Turbary Plots.

18.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will indicate the districts in Inishowen where turbary plots are being allocated or will be allocated this year.

The Land Commission at present have no turbary on hands for allocation in Inishowen. According to a recent investigation, there is little likelihood of sizable areas of virgin bog becoming available to the Land Commission for development in this district but the possibility of acquiring some turbary in the Carrowmore area is being examined. I understand that there is a number of privately-owned developed bogs in the Inishowen district on which adequate facilities exist for arranging private turbary lettings.
