Vol. 182 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offers of Laois Lands for Forestry.

19.

asked the Minister for Lands if he has received offers from a number of people in the Ballinahenny area, Clonaslee, County Laois, who are prepared to give their lands to his Department for forestry development in the area; and if he will give an early decision in the matter so that further employment may be given at forestry work in the area.

The Forestry Division of my Department recently received an offer of 600 acres of commonage land for afforestation in the townland of Ballynahimmy, adjoining State Forest lands at Clonaslee. The area will be inspected at the earliest possible date. Arrangements have been made for the inspection of another area in the same townland offered some months ago. Consideration of these cases will be expedited as much as possible.
