Vol. 182 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nazi Movement.

11.

asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been called to a report of the 30th May, 1960 that a Mr. Joel Brand, wartime Jewish leader, had stated that he believed that the Irish Republic was now one of the main centres of the Nazi movement; and if he will make a statement in connection with the matter.

I have seen the newspaper report in question.

There is no basis whatsoever for Mr. Brand's belief and I am at a loss to understand why he should have made the statement attributed to him. I am satisfied that there is no foundation for the statement.
