asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is to be the continued policy of the Government to export feeding barley and to import maize at the same time; and if he will make a statement on the merit of this policy.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Feeding Barley: Government Policy
15.
It has always been the policy to permit the importation of maize under licence. Since growers of feeding barley are assured of a guaranteed price for all the barley grown, imports of maize do not affect the total production of feeding barley.
The conditions under which maize imports are permitted are determined so as to secure that feeding-suffs are made available at the lowest price possible.
