Vol. 182 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shankill Road and Housing Scheme.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether the report of the expert examining the proposed route of the main road at Shankill, County Dublin, has yet been received; if so, the result of such examination; and when work will commence on the new county council houses at Shankill.

On the roads question, I would refer the Deputy to my reply of 6th April for a correct statement of the position. The Dublin Corporation have now decided to undertake the traffic survey referred to in that reply but it will take some time.

As regards the proposed housing scheme at Shankill, I understand from the Dublin County Council that the plans are being examined with a view to their possible revision to enable the scheme to be undertaken without danger of affecting future road development in the area.

Can the Minister say if work is likely to commence soon?

I cannot tell the Deputy that.
