The statutory provisions governing procedure at local elections would not permit of the arrangement suggested by the Deputy being adopted. It is my intention, however, to suggest to the Joint Committee on Electoral Law that, as an alternative to the present procedure, amending legislation should permit a blind elector to have a ballot paper marked by a companion on his behalf.
