Vol. 182 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Bog Scheme.

31.

asked the Minister for Lands if a scheme has been prepared by the Land Commission for the repair of the road and drainage of the Cloonmore Bog on the Dick Estate; and, if so, the amount of money allocated for this purpose; and when he expects work to commence in view of the fact that over fifty tenants require bog plots in this Bog.

Sums amounting to £773 have already been expended by the Land Commission on road repairs, drainage and fencing on the turbary reserved to them in the townland of Cloonmore. As far back as 1935, plans for the award of turbary rights over the area were settled but 62 of the 73 selected persons declined to sign the necessary agreements. Fresh proposals for disposal of this turbary will be formulated as soon as possible and in this connection the question of further development and improvement works will be fully considered.
