Vol. 182 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Holding.

10.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring a holding of which particulars have been supplied.

It has not been possible, from the information supplied, to identify the holding referred to in the question. Perhaps the Deputy may have in mind a holding comprising 21 acres at Powellsborough, Co. Sligo—not very far from the Co. Mayo boundary. In this case, acquisition proceedings are in the final stages and arrangements for taking possession of the lands are being made.

Would the Minister give the surname of the owner of the estate?

I cannot give the Deputy that at the moment. I am afraid I have not got it.

It is funny to take over a holding without knowing the name of the owner.

I am not taking it over. I am answering the question that was put down.
