Vol. 182 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Revaluation of Cork City.

2.

asked the Minister for Finance if in view of the injustice to owners of houses and property in the area transferred from Cork county to Cork county borough, whose small homes were recently valued at two or three times the valuation of houses and large shops within the old borough, a revaluation of Cork city for rating purposes will be undertaken.

I am informed that the suggestion in the Deputy's question as to the valuation of certain premises in Cork County borough is incorrect. In any event, I have no power to direct a revaluation of any premises or of any area.

The initiative in applying for a general revaluation under the Valuation Acts of rateable hereditaments in a county borough area rests with the county borough council. I am informed by the Commissioner of Valuation that no such application has been received from Cork Corporation.
