Vol. 182 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disembarkation of Passengers at Dún Laoghaire.

7.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if in view of the considerable annoyance caused to passengers on the Cambria mail boat at Dún Laoghaire on 4th June last by reason of a delay of two hours in disembarking he will ensure that all necessary steps are taken to avoid such delays in future.

The delay to the vessel was not occasioned by any factor under my control or that of other Departments and arose solely out of the operation of the mail boats.

The general improvement of the Dún Laoghaire/Holyhead service and the elimination of incidents such as this have been pursued with British Railways by my predecessor and myself, both directly and through Bord Fáilte. There have been improvements in recent years and I intend to press for such further improvements as may be practicable.
