Mr. O'Malley

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs in respect of the period from 1st July, 1923, to date, the names and legal qualifications of the persons appointed to be Standing Counsel to the Post Office (or to the Minister or his Department), giving in each case the date of the appointment, the period for which the appointment was held, the retaining fee, if any, paid to each appointee and the total amount paid to him under other heads out of the Votes for (1) his Department and (2) Wireless Broadcasting during the period that the appointee held the post and whether any of the appointees in question was at any time a member of either House of the Oireachtas.

Mr. Hilliard

Standing Counsel to the Post Office is not paid a salary or a retainer but is paid fees in each case on which he advises or in which he represents the Post Office in court in accordance with the scales laid down by the Bar Council.

The rest of the information required by the Deputy is in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report.
