Vol. 183 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Development of Tourism in Duncannon (Wexford).

8.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if there are any plans in the course of formulation for the development of tourism in Duncannon, County Wexford; and, if so, when such plans will be made effective.

The formulation of plans for the development of the tourist traffic in any particular area is primarily a matter for local interests in that area. Bord Fáilte Éireann are empowered to encourage and assist local development groups having this object and any enquiry on the subject should be addressed to that body.

I understand that Bord Fáilte made a grant in that area which was subsequently withdrawn. Has the Minister no function in the matter whatever? This question refers to an important tourist centre.

If the Deputy will let me have particulars of that grant and the withdrawal I shall ask Bord Fáilte about it.
