Vol. 184 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Dromore and Fane Rivers (Monaghan).

22.

asked the Minister for Finance if plans are proceeding for the drainage of the Dromore and Fane Rivers in County Monaghan.

Both of these rivers are scheduled for treatment under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. I cannot say at present when the Fane can be reached in the programme but the Dromore river is being dealt with in the survey of the Erne catchment which is in hands.

Has there not been an interim survey of the Dromore area?

Not in my time.

I know it was not in your time. I did not expect that but is it not on record that such an interim survey was made?

As far as I am concerned, it is part of a bigger area.

If there was an interim survey made which is available to the Parliamentary Secretary, would he not consider carrying out the interim scheme on the Dromore which could subsequently be incorporated into the comprehensive scheme?

The Deputy asked a similar question last year and the answer was, and still is, that we do not undertake schemes in part.

Will Deputy Mooney not have a Supplementary to ask on this matter?

You are not doing too badly as you are.
