Vol. 184 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment in Dundalk Engineering Works.

31.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of persons at present employed in the Dundalk Engineering Works and the numbers employed at the end of each half year since the Company commenced operations.

I have assumed that the Deputy's question, refers to the total employment given by the associated group of companies operating on the site of the former Great Northern Railway Company works. It is not, of course, customary to reveal details of employment in individual private concerns but, in view of the fact that the Dáil has authorised ex-gratia payments to workers, who cannot be retained in this employment, I have obtained the figures requested from the Industrial Engineering Co. Ltd., together with agreement to disclose them.

They are as follows:—
