Vol. 185 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allocation of Donegal Bogs.

31.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that some years ago the Land Commission lockspitted bogs and marked out roads on Coguish turbary on the Musgrove Estate, near Kilcar, County Donegal, but that to date these bogs have not been allocated to the tenants; and if he will ensure that they are allocated forthwith.

A limited amount of improvements, including some road work and lockspitting, was effected by the Land Commission on this bog when turbary rights were allotted to 25 persons in 1946.

Following a more recent face-bank and depth survey, together with other essential investigations on the ground, proposals are being formulated for the development of a substantial area of turbary with a view to its allocation, as soon as possible, to deserving local applicants, of whom there are upwards of 100.
