Vol. 185 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification: Cavan Special Charges.

34.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the areas in County Cavan which are subject to special charges for rural electrification, and the total amount paid in such charges in the county for the latest year for which figures are available; and if he will express this figure as a percentage of the total amount paid in such charges in respect of the same year.

I have not got the information requested by the Deputy and I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that this information cannot readily be extracted from the Board's records. The Board supplies over a quarter of a million consumers in rural areas and the records for all these consumers would have to be analysed to assemble the data necessary for a full answer. If the Deputy wishes to communicate direct with the Board I am assured that every endeavour will be made to provide him with as much information as possible.

35.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of premises in County Cavan which are subject to the special charges for rural electrification for the latest date for which figures are available.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that 389 rural consumers in County Cavan pay special service charges.
