Vol. 185 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Membership of Security Council of U.N.O.

19.

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether the Irish delegate supported the motion calling on the U.N.O. to increase the membership of the Security Council of the Organisation; and whether he supported the Afro-Asian amendment calling for the existing seats on the Council to be redistributed to ensure equitable geographical distribution.

The answer to the question is in the affirmative. I should add, however, that the Irish Delegation did not support another Afro-Asian amendment calling for an immediate redistribution of the Security Council seats at the present session.
