Vol. 185 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Workers' Christmas Holidays.

55.

asked the Minister for Lands what holidays will be granted to forestry workers in view of the fact that Christmas Day and New Year's Day fall on a Sunday.

56.

asked the Minister for Lands (a) if it is intended to give Monday, 26th December, 1960, as a holiday with pay to forestry and Land Commission workers, and (b) if, in view of the fact that two holidays with pay in lieu of 6th January and 29th June have been granted to local authority employees (as a result of a recommendation of the Labour Court), Department of Agriculture employees, employees of the Agricultural Institute and by all private employers who allowed Church holidays in lieu of public holidays he will grant two days to forestry and Land Commission workers with pay.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take these questions together. Forestry and Land Commission workers will, subject to compliance with the usual conditions, be given holidays with pay on Monday, 26th December and Tuesday, 27th December this year. With regard to the other days in question, this matter is under consideration by me.
