Vol. 186 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Amendment of Workmen's Compensation Acts.

32.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether he proposes to amend the Workmen's Compensation Acts to cover non-manual workers who earn up to £800 per annum.

As I indicated in reply to a Parliamentary Question on 6th December last, it is my intention to examine fully all aspects of the existing Workmen's Compensation Scheme when the recommendations of the Commission on Workmen's Compensation are available.

Meanwhile it is not proposed to alter the ceiling of £600 for non-manual workers, or any other feature of the existing scheme.

Could the Minister say when this commission is likely to report?

I wish I could. I have been assured that the report will be in my hands towards the end of this summer.

They are still living then?

I did not appoint them.

No; all you did was to mess them up after they had been appointed.

Question No. 33.

He put his election agent on them.

No; he is on the T.V. Authority.

Order! The Minister should be allowed to answer the question.

There was a little inaccuracy I was trying to correct. I am sorry.

The Minister should certainly be allowed by Deputy Norton to answer a question put down by the leader of his Party.
