Vol. 187 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Salaries of County Managers.

20.

asked the Minister for Local Government the respective dates of the last two occasions on which the salaries of county managers were increased by him, the percentage increase on each occasion, the present salary paid to each county manager, and, where two counties are involved, the amount paid by each.

The last two occasions on which the salaries of county managers were increased by Ministerial orders were (1) as from 1st August, 1955, when there was an increase of 9.5% at the minimum of the scale and no increase at the maximum and (2) as from 1st August, 1960, when there was an increase of 5.9% at the minimum and an increase of 6.1% at the maximum of the scale.

County managers, including those for grouped counties, are paid on the standard salary scale of £2,140 per annum rising by annual increments of £65 to £2,400 per annum. Where a person is county manager for two counties one half of his salary is paid by each of the counties.

One half regardless of the size of the counties?

Yes, half by each of the two counties.

Plus travelling expenses?

I shall have to answer that again.
