Tairgim:

"Go ndeonófar suim fhorlíontach nach mó ná £28,000 chun íoctha an mhuirir a thiocfaidh chun bheith iníoctha i rith na bliana dar críoch an 31ú lá de Mhárta, 1961, le haghaidh Íocaíochtaí faoi na hAchtanna Gairmoideachais, 1930 go 1953 (Uimh. 29 de 1930; Uimh. 50 de 1936; Uimh 9 de 1944; Uimh. 1 de 1947; Uimh 33 de 1950; agus Uimh. 37 de 1953), agus chun críocha eile i ndáil le Ceardoideachas agus Oideachas Leanúnach.

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £28,000 be granted to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1961, for Payments under the Vocational Education Acts, 1930 to 1953 (No. 29 of 1930; No. 50 of 1936; No. 9 of 1944; No. 1 of 1947; No. 33 of 1950; and No. 37 of 1953), and for other purposes connected with Technical Instruction and Continuation Education."

The need for the Supplementary Estimate of £28,000 arises mainly from the introduction of improved salary scales for vocational teachers as from 1st March, 1960, following the Government's acceptance of the finding of the Arbitration Board of May, 1960, to this effect.

The Estimates includes also provision for increased remuneration in respect of cost of living to other full-time officers of the Vocational Education Committees, on the same basis as that granted to other public servants and dating as from the 1st January, 1960, accordingly.

The total requirement is £29,000, but £1,000 of this is being met by savings in other subheads.

Vote put and agreed to.
