Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bovine Tuberculosis Eradication Scheme in Kerry.

asked the Minister for Agriculture (a) the total amount of headage grants paid to farmers in Kerry since the scheme commenced, (b) the number of claims received from County Kerry which are unpaid, and (c) the number of reactor cows sold in County Kerry under the Bovine Tuberculosis Eradication Scheme, and the number delivered to the licensed canneries.

The total headage grants paid to herd-owners in County Kerry since the inception of the Southern Scheme on the 1st October, 1959, amounts to £317,085 in respect of 21,099 reactor cows.

Unpaid claims on hands to the 18th March, 1961, amount to £22,510, involving 1,498 reactor cows.

The number of reactor cows disposed of under the Bovine Tuberculosis Eradication Scheme in County Kerry is 40,199, and 39,412 of these have been delivered to licensed canneries to date.
