asked the Minister for Local Government if health authorities established under the Health Authorities Act, 1960 (being the successors of former mental hospital authorities), and mental hospital authorities generally, were given power under the Mental Treatment Act, 1961 to give allowances to manual workers who had retired from service before 1st April, 1961 under Section 54 of the Local Government (Superannuation) Act, 1956 as a result of the application of that Act to employees of mental hospitals.
