Vol. 188 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Salaries of Social Welfare Agents.

8.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is now in a position to make a statement on the question of increased salaries for local agents of his Department.

In a reply to a similar question by the Deputy on the 9th February, 1961, I referred to a detailed claim to be submitted on behalf of the Association of Unestablished Local Agents before the claim for increased pay could be further heard by the Departmental Council under the Scheme of Conciliation and Arbitration. This detailed claim has not been received in the Department and further consideration of the matter must await such a claim.

Could the Minister indicate who is responsible for the delay in furnishing the particulars to which he referred?

Certainly not the Minister.

So it is the individual agents or their representatives?

Well, it is the other party to the claim—put it that way.
