Vol. 188 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killarney Repair Works.

7.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that last year a Bord Fáilte grant of £300 was allocated for the repair of the Office of Public Works road leading from the main road at Gerahmeen Cross to the Toll Gate near the Toll House at Upper Lake, Killarney, County Kerry but that the repairs were not executed; and if he will now ensure that the work will be carried out before this year's tourist season opens; and if he is further aware that the Tourist Room attached to the Toll House has been in a very bad state of disrepair for some years past; and if as the representations made have so far been ignored he will now issue the necessary authority for the carrying out of this work immediately.

I understand that the improvement of this road is under consideration by Bord Fáilte in consultation with the local authorities but no approach has been made to the Commissioners of Public Works in the matter. Meanwhile, the Commissioners carry out any necessary repairs to the portion of the road in the Bourn Vincent Memorial Park.

The tourist shelter at Gearhameen is being repaired at the moment.
