Vol. 188 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballycroy (Mayo) School.

16.

asked the Minister for Education when parents of children attending the present very bad school building at Shranamonragh, Ballycroy, County Mayo, may except to have a new school erected; and if he will state the reason for the delay in providing the new school.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that the Reverend Manager has recently been asked to lodge the local contribution towards the cost of the erection of the new Shranamonragh school. When this has been done the Commissioners will then place the contract.

Owing to the large volume of work which the Commissioners have in hands, there was delay in the preparation of the working drawings and specification prior to the invitation of tenders. Contractors had to be allowed sufficient time to submit tenders, the examination of which takes considerable time.
