Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Housing Estates.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a number of new housing estates in County Dublin, namely, Wainsfort, Perrystown, Manor and St. Mary's Park, have been finished for some time; and that the County Council have refused to take them in charge because the developers have not completed certain work to the satisfaction of the Council's engineers; and if he will have the matter investigated.

I am aware of the efforts of the Dublin local authorities to ensure that the developers of these and other private housing estates discharge their responsibilities for the satisfactory completion of development works and, as indicated in reply to the Deputy on 13th December last, steps are being taken to give the local authorities more effective powers in this respect. I have no power to require a local authority to take an estate in charge.
