Vol. 189 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Vacancy in Model School, Limerick.

34.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in appointing a teacher to fill the vacancy which exists in the Model School, Limerick.

A vacancy continues to exist in the Model School, Limerick, because the teacher appointed to the post is unable to take up duty until the period of notice to resign from the school in which she is now serving has expired.

Will the Minister say when the position will be remedied?

The period of notice required is three months and the appointment was made about a month ago.

Is it not the position that for the past five or six months there has been a vacancy in this school?

During the year three vacancies have been filled in the school. It was a most unusual occurrence.

The vacancy is still there.

There is one vacancy not filled because the party appointed is completing his notice.
