Vol. 189 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Kildare Lands.

37.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have yet acquired the O'Neill lands at Clane, County Kildare; and, if not, how the matter now stands.

The Land Commission propose to take possession of this property later in the year when current lettings expire.

38.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission acquired any portion of the Nairn lands at Freepark, Ballytore, County Kildare; if so, when the lands were acquired; and how they were disposed of.

The Land Commission, at one stage, were interested in these lands comprising 115 acres but decided not to proceed further when the lands were sold privately to a local farmer.

Will the Minister confirm that at no stage were the lands in the possession of the Land Commission?

That is correct, assuming the Deputy is referring to that part of the lands known as Freepark, Ballytore, Co. Kildare. The Land Commission had served preliminary notices but proceedings never got to the court stage. Only the preliminary notices had been served.

So there was no actual acquisition at any stage?

That is correct.
