Vol. 189 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sligo-Leitrim Telephone Facilities.

51.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will have telephones provided in the areas throughout Sligo-Leitrim constituency which have already made application and have been refused.

I assume that the Deputy's question relates to waiting applications in the area in question. There are some 95 such applications altogether of which it is hoped to clear the bulk before the end of the year and the balance early next year.

Is the Minister aware that there is a mill there will very fine machinery? That mill closed because the railway line was removed. The area has suffered from a lack of employment for a number of years past. I appeal to the Minister to give it special consideration and take some steps to remedy the position there.
