Vol. 189 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Private Motor Cars Used as Hackneys.

7.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that Government Departments very often employ private motor cars for hackney purposes; and, if so, if he will issue a directive to the various Departments that this illegal practice should cease.

I am not aware of any such practice. If, however, the Deputy has any particular cases in mind, I will, of course, have them investigated on receipt of particulars.

Would the Minister cause a circular to be issued to civil servants generally stating that they should not employ private cars on public business?

Inquiries were made from the various Departments and they did not know of any.

Perhaps I could give the Minister the information confidentially.

I should be glad if the Deputy would.
