Vol. 189 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Postal Voting in General Elections.

38.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he will consider introducing a system of postal voting in general elections in this country on similar lines to systems employed in Great Britain, the United States of America, Sweden, and other countries, in order to facilitate citizens who, owing to circumstances beyond their control, may be away from home on election day.

This is a matter which comes within the terms of reference of the Joint Committee on Electoral Law, to whom the Deputy might, if he thinks fit, convey his views.
