Vol. 190 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shelter for Boats of Donegal Fishermen.

27.

asked the Minister for Lands if any accommodation by way of a shelter for the boats of fishermen at Portaleen, Malin, County Donegal, will be provided.

As I said in reply to a Question by the Deputy on the 11th November, 1959, although extensive surveys have been carried out at Portaleen and alternative schemes have been examined, it has not been found possible to provide a safe dock or harbour of refuge there except at enormous outlay. Suggestions for improvements are, however, still being examined. A State grant has already been offered to Donegal County Council towards the cost of providing a crane to lift boats to safety.
