Vol. 190 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Public Telephones: Cleaning and Disinfection.

29.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs what arrangements are made to clean and disinfect public telephones.

Public telephones are regularly cleaned and disinfected. The frequency varies from daily to weekly, according to location and extent of use.

30.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, as a means of combating the spread of infection by the use of telephones, he will consider providing a public service for the regular disinfection and cleaning of telephones at reasonable charges to telephone subscribers on request.

The provision by the Post Office of a cleaning and disinfecting service for subscribers' telephones would not be practicable.
