Vol. 190 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Importation of Sharpening Stones.

35.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what amount of money is paid annually for the importation of sharpening stones for tractor blades and scythes; and if a grant will be made available towards the production of such stones in parts of this country.

Separate figures are not available for imports of sharpening stones for scythes or other agricultural edge-tools. In 1960 the total value of imports of grinding and polishing wheels and stones was £47,899.

Grants for industrial development are available in accordance with the provisions of the Undeveloped Areas Acts, 1952 and 1957 and the Industrial Grants Act, 1959. These Acts are administered by An Foras Tionscal to whom persons seeking grants for industrial development should make application.
