Vol. 190 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Termination of Newbridge Special Allowance.

24.

asked the Minister for Defence on what grounds the Special Allowance under the Army Pensions Acts previously paid to Mr. Patrick Wiseman (Senr.), 1 St. Patrick's Terrace, Newbridge, County Kildare, has been terminated.

The special allowance under the Army Pensions Acts of the person to whom the Deputy refers, was terminated with effect as from 6th January, 1961, following the grant of a contributory old age pension at the rate of £3 8s. 6d. per week to him only £1 11s. 0d. of which may be ignored in the assessing of means for special allowance purposes. This resulted in his means exceeding the appropriate annual sum.
